Kancamagus Scenic Byway, New Hampshire

The Kancamagus Scenic Byway passes through the heart of the White Mountains while traversing near Mt. Washington, filled with scenic areas and overlooks. It is known as one of the world's most spectacular fall-foliage trips and we were not disappointed.

We are camped at White Birches Campground in Shelburne, NH.

The Kancamagus Byway

The Kancamagus Highway cuts a 34 mile east-west channel through the 800,000-acre White Mountain National Forest from Lincoln NH to Conway NH.

A drive along the Kancamagus Scenic Byway promises to unveil some of nature's most spectacular sights.

Mt. Chocorua Lake

Wild mushrooms, but I'm not sure I would eat them

Don't just look at the beauty of this route; if your schedule permits, get out and enjoy the hiking trails, waterfalls, and scenic overlooks that it offers.

Weaving through the White Mountain National Forest, brilliant colors fill the flora at every bend.

Donna is color coordinated with Mother Nature’s palette.

Awesome roadside colors

Isn't this something?

Isn't this a great place, everything you want is there

There is a footbridge that crosses the river down there

What a wonderful experience; we filled our eyes with one of the many beauties as we transverse this spacious country. We are on our way home to South Barre, Vermont through the Franconia Notch.

We thank our families for our “spirit of adventure”.

There are those of us who are always waiting for the right opportunity or the right time to do this. We are thankful we took a deep breath and chose a traveling lifestyle for the majority of the year.
